The Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run returns for its milestone 10^th edition on 10 August 2025, marking a new chapter with the introduction of a 42km Full Marathon category. This addition expands on the event’s lineup, which also includes the 21km Half Marathon, 10km competitive run and 5km Fun Run categories.

The introduction of the Full Marathon comes as the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run becomes an official member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), joining a global network of recognised running events. This membership reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the race experience in line with international standards.

This year’s event features the largest prize pool to date, with RM185,000 in cash rewards for top finishers across the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Competitive Run categories. The men’s and women’s open category winners of the 42km Full Marathon are set to take home RM10,000 each.

Early Bird registration for the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2025 opened on 14 February, with more than 2,000 participants signing up in the first two weeks. The 2024 edition saw a record 3,615 participants, the highest since the event’s introduction in 2013, including 117 from other Malaysian states and 33 international runners from Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Kenya, the Netherlands and Belgium.

“We are encouraged by the enthusiastic response to the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2025, with over 2,000 runners already registered in two weeks. We welcome participants of all experience levels, from seasoned runners to first timers, to be part of the run. As we celebrate its 10th edition, we look forward to a meaningful day of fitness, camaraderie and giving back to the community,” said Yusri Safri, Sarawak Energy’s Senior Vice President for Contract & Procurement, who is also the Organising Chairman of the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2025.

For those who have yet to register, the Early Bird special rates are available until 15 March 2025:

• RM90 for the 42km Full Marathon
• RM70 for the 21km Half Marathon
• RM60 for the 10km Competitive Run
• RM40 for the 5km Fun Run

As a community-driven initiative, all proceeds from registration fees will go to charitable organisations. In 2024, all the funds raised was distributed equally among eight charitable bodies in Kuching.
