Sarawak Energy Hosts Iftar Gathering And Extends Community Support
KUCHING
11 MARCH 2025
Sarawak Energy hosted an iftar gathering on 11 March at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, bringing together over 500 stakeholders and community members in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Led by its Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili and his wife, Datin Hajah Norasmah Kassim, the event provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with the community and embrace the spirit of togetherness during this sacred month.
As part of the gathering, Sarawak Energy extended contributions to representatives of local mosques, suraus and charitable organisations, reinforcing its commitment to social investment and community support across Sarawak.
Speaking at the event, Sharbini expressed appreciation for the long-standing relationships with community representatives and stakeholders.
“Ramadan is a time for gratitude, humility and sharing our blessings. At Sarawak Energy, we remain committed to giving back and honouring the trust placed in us by the people of Sarawak. We hope our contributions bring comfort to those in need, in the spirit of Ramadan,” said Sharbini.
As a responsible corporate citizen, Sarawak Energy remains committed to supporting communities through initiatives aligned with its social investment focus areas, which include education and young people; environmental management and conservation; culture and heritage preservation; and community development and entrepreneurship.
As part of these efforts, the Company continues to invest in education through the Sarawak Energy Scholarship Programme, which provides financial support to Sarawakian youth pursuing higher education. Each year, around 150 students in Sarawak receive support through the programme, with priority given to financially disadvantaged students from communities near Sarawak Energy’s projects.
Complementing this, Sarawak Energy also offers a bursary programme to assist secondary school students through annual financial contributions. In addition, the Company has consistently extended educational support to schools across the state through corporate social responsibility initiatives, helping to build a more conducive learning environment for students.
With Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaching, Sarawak Energy is also strengthening efforts to maintain a reliable electricity supply throughout Sarawak. Contingency measures are in place for quick response and restoration in case of disruptions. The public is encouraged to report outages or suspicious activities near electrical assets through the Customer Service Centre, ‘SEB cares’ mobile app, or the ‘Carina Sarawak Energy’ Facebook page.
Through these sustained efforts, Sarawak Energy aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, while remaining committed to community engagement and supporting initiatives that contribute to their well-being.
Also present at the event were representatives from Masjid Darul Muslimin, Kampung Salak; Masjid Darul Halim Kampung Temenggong; Masjid Darul Falah Kampung Jaya Bakti; Surau Darul Rahman; Surau Ar-Rahman Kampung Sungai Batu; Surau Darul Hana Kampung Stadium; Surau Ar-Rahman Kampung Temedak Melayu; Surau Darul Ihsan Kampung Sri Kandung; Madrasah Al-Khairat; Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching; Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahmah Kuching; Sarawak Energy colleagues; and members of the media.
