In tribute to years of dedication, devotion and hard work, Sarawak Energy celebrated the outstanding achievements of its employees at the company’s Loyalty Service Awards and Retirement Dinner 2023 events held in Kuching, Miri and Sibu in February.

These celebrations served as platform to recognise the exceptional achievements of the workforce and highlighted the organisation’s commitment to excellence.

Expressing gratitude to the award recipients, Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili said the collective commitment of Sarawak Energy’s long-serving employees has been vital in propelling the company to its current standing as a top-quartile utility and Malaysia’s largest renewable energy developer.

“Sarawak Energy has reached a new stage in its development, actively expanding its international presence and working to forge new collaborations. With a focus on establishing partnerships and interconnections across Southeast Asia, the company aims to position Sarawak as the Battery of ASEAN.”

“We are also progressing in our journey to become sustainability leaders on the global stage, driving the international discourse surrounding renewable energy and sustainability at major conferences like last year’s COP28 and World Hydropower Congress.”

“In addition to these global forays, Sarawak Energy remain committed to delivering on our promise to the people of Sarawak by ensuring every one of them have access to a reliable supply of electricity regardless of their location, as reflected in our rural electrification efforts.”

“All of these accomplishments would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the entire Sarawak Energy team. The skills, abilities, and agility demonstrated by Sarawak Energy’s employees not only support the company’s growth but also deliver important benefits to Sarawak and its people,” said Sharbini, in his speech at the Loyalty Service Awards and Retirement Dinner 2023 in Kuching on 5 February.

Sharbini also called on the company’s long-serving employees to share their knowledge and successes with the fellow colleagues.

“As skilled and more experienced members of the Sarawak Energy family, you have an important role as mentors, advisors and supporters in your respective teams and departments. Encourage your peers to continuously improve their performance in line with Sarawak Energy’s high-performance corporate culture,” he said.

Earlier in her welcoming speech, Senior Vice President for Corporate Services, Hajah Siti Aisah Adenan said that Sarawak Energy’s commitment to encouraging a culture of diversity, equity and inclusivity (DEI) has contributed to its reputation as an excellent workplace.

Serving as the Sarawak Energy Leading Women Network (SELWN) Executive Champion, Hajah Siti Aisah emphasised that prioritising DEI values across the organisation is central focus for the company.

“Diversity should not just be limited to gender. It is equally important to have diversity of skills, backgrounds, cultures and perspectives. Each of us brings a unique set of abilities and knowledge to Sarawak Energy, enabling our company to be agile and responsive in the face of challenges.”

“All of you have been essential to fostering the culture of agility within the company and in sharing your insights and experience towards allowing Sarawak Energy to sustain its operations and thrive amidst adversity,” she said.

The Kuching event kicked off the Loyalty Service Awards and Retirement Dinner 2023 series, which was followed by celebrations in Miri on 19 February and Sibu on 26 February.

In 2023, a total of 689 employees received the Loyalty Service Award, of which 434 are from Kuching and the Western Region, 138 from Miri and the Northern Region, and 117 from Sibu and the Central region.

Sarawak Energy maintains its commitment to talent development and the promotion of a high-performance culture, reinforcing the company’s vision to make Sarawak Energy a great place to work.

These efforts were recently recognised as Sarawak Energy earned its fourth acknowledgement as one of the ‘Best Companies to Work for in Asia’ during the HR Asia Gala Dinner & Award Ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on 7 December 2023.

These accolades solidify Sarawak Energy’s position as the largest employer of professional Sarawak talents and as a leading employer in the region.
