Sarawak Energy Hosts Iftar Gathering in Kuching

Sarawak Energy hosted a buka puasa gathering for its Kuching-based stakeholders and community today in observance of the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan. The gathering, held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), was hosted by Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili, and his wife, Datin Hajah Norasmah Kassim.

The buka puasa event signifies Sarawak Energy's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community engagement. Serving as a platform to cultivate a sense of unity, goodwill and strong stakeholder relations, the company is dedicated to strengthening relationships and supporting the local communities it serves.

About 500 guests attended the event, which also saw the handover of contributions to representatives of local mosques, suraus and charitable organisations.

In his welcoming remarks, Sharbini conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the community representatives and stakeholders in attendance for their continued trust and support.

Sharbini also reaffirmed Sarawak Energy's commitment to the people of Sarawak by ensuring every one of them has access to sustainable, renewable, and affordable energy around the clock. Highlighting the company’s role in offering competitive electricity tariffs, he assured continued efforts towards sustainable growth and environmental stewardship. This commitment extends to Sarawak Energy's social investment in education, environmental conservation, and community development.

“As we prepare to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in a few weeks, our people and contractors are ramping up efforts to ensure continuous electricity supply throughout Sarawak. We are ensuring that our operating systems are functioning efficiently, and that contingency measures are in place to enable effective restoration of power in the event of an outage,” he said.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government as well as other government departments and agencies. Other guests included representatives from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Pekerja Islam; Masjid Unimas, Pusat Islam Tun Abg Salahuddin; Masjid Darul Naim; Masjid Al Ghazali; Suro Darul Hijrah; Suro Al Kauthar; Suro Darul Hassan; Suro Darul Muhasibin; Suro Daru Bahagia; Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahmah Kuching; Pusat Jagaan Nur Murni; Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching and members of the media.
