SIMUNJAN
19 SEPTEMBER 2024
Sarawak Energy, in partnership with Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI), contributed to community healthcare by donating two haemodialysis machines to Hospital Simunjan on 19 September 2024.
This follows the first handover of two units to Hospital Bau on 7 August, with the total contribution for this year amounting to RM180,000 for the purchase of four haemodialysis machines for both Hospital Bau and Hospital Simunjan.
Aligned with Sarawak Energy’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillar of ‘Community Development and Entrepreneurship’, the addition of these haemodialysis machines is crucial in supporting the increasing demand for treatment at both hospitals. This initiative also helps to replace outdated and malfunctioning equipment, ensuring better access to essential healthcare services for the local community.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Yang Berbahagia Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin, SABATI Honorary Treasurer, representing the President of SABATI, Yang Amat Berbahagia Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma'ani Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang. Also present were The Honourable Awla Dris, Assemblyman for Simunjan; The Honourable Rodiyah Sapiee, Member of Parliament for Batang Sadong; Dr. Noraziela Morney, Director for Hospital Simunjan; and Marconi Madai, Sarawak Energy’s Senior Vice President for Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE).
Speaking at the event, Marconi said: “In collaboration with SABATI, this initiative reflects our shared responsibility to invest in community welfare. As a responsible corporation, Sarawak Energy is committed to taking proactive actions to maximise the positive impact of our efforts in all areas of our social investment priorities, ensuring that all communities within our operational areas benefit positively.”
Sarawak Energy and SABATI initiated their healthcare partnership in June 2020, beginning with the donation of two haemodialysis machines to Kapit and Lawas Hospitals.
Since then, Sarawak Energy has extended its support to various hospitals and medical facilities throughout Sarawak, providing essential equipment such as electrocardiogram (ECG) machines, dialysis units, ambulances, and fundoscopy devices. Additionally, the company has funded cataract surgeries in Kapit, Mukah-Balingian, Sg Asap Belaga, Murum, and Sri Aman, collaborating with local communities on a range of health-focused initiatives.
Also present at the handover ceremony were Datin Amar Baduyah Haji Bujang, Chairperson of the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK); alongside other SABATI and MAKSAK committee members and officers from Hospital Simunjan and Sarawak Energy.
Dr. Noraziela Morney, Director of Hospital Simunjan, delivered the welcoming remarks during the handover ceremony.
