BAU
7 AUGUST 2024
The communities of Bau and Simunjan will benefit from four haemodialysis machines donated by Sarawak Energy to Hospital Bau and Hospital Simunjan.
The haemodialysis machines address the urgent need to replace outdated and faulty medical equipment in both hospitals, which are experiencing an increasing demand for haemodialysis treatment.
As part of its ongoing commitment to support community healthcare, this initiative aligns with Sarawak Energy’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillar of “Community Development and Entrepreneurship” and is a collaboration with Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI).
On 7 August 2024, Yang Amat Berbahagia Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma'ani, President of SABATI, officiated the handover of two haemodialysis machines to Hospital Bau. The ceremony was attended by The Honourable Dato' Henry Harry Jinep, Deputy Minister for Transport and State Assemblyman for Tasik Biru; and Dr Jasmany Liboh, Director of Hospital Bau. Representing Sarawak Energy was Hajah Siti Aisah Adenan, Senior Vice President for Corporate Services.
In her speech, Hajah Siti Aisah Adenan said: “Through our contribution of these haemodialysis machines, we hope to enhance healthcare services and better support local communities, especially given the increasing number of patients requiring haemodialysis treatment. Going forward, Sarawak Energy remains committed to exploring further opportunities to support the medical field in Sarawak. Our goal is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve and reinforce our commitment to improving healthcare across our communities.”
Sarawak Energy and SABATI began their healthcare collaboration in June 2020, with an initial donation of two haemodialysis machines each to Kapit and Lawas Hospitals.
The company has since supported hospitals and medical facilities across Sarawak, contributing electrocardiogram (ECG) machines, dialysis machines, ambulances, and fundoscopy machines, among others. In addition, the company has also funded cataract operations in Kapit, Mukah-Balingian, Sg Asap Belaga, Murum, and Sri Aman, working with local communities on health-focused initiatives.
Sarawak Energy's CSR efforts are guided by four key pillars: Education and Young People, Environmental Management and Conservation, Culture and Heritage, and Community Development and Entrepreneurship. These principles reflect the company's dedication to creating positive and sustainable impacts within the communities it serves.
Also present at the handover ceremony were Dato Doreen Mayang Uggah, Deputy President of SABATI; Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, Chairperson of MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak; Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin, Honorary Secretary of SABATI; Datin Sri Hajah Saadiah Haji Buji, Chairperson of SABATI Welfare Bureau; Datin Melinda Bucking Lawan, Exco Member of SABATI; Datin Lee Chai Fong, Member of SABATI; Datin Christina Esni Mied, Member of SABATI; and Dr Vijek Vijayan, Chief Assistant Director, Medical Division, Sarawak Health Department (JKNS).
