Earlier today, the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Sarawak hosted "Majlis Amanat Bersama MUT" (2024 Ministerial Address), where the Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, The Honourable Dato Sri Haji Julaihi Haji Narawi delivered a special address and unveiled the MUT’s 2024 Annual Plan.

In his welcoming speech, Jafri Lias, Permanent Secretary for MUT, outlined the Ministry's 2023 achievements and presented the highlights of MUT’s 2024 Annual Plan. He expressed appreciation to MUT staff for their collaborative efforts and innovative approaches in attaining its goals.

In his special address, Dato Sri Julaihi elaborated MUT's strategic objectives and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to public service. He also discussed the Electricity (Amendment) Ordinance 2023, which takes effect from 1 February 2024, outlining its implications as well as the mandate for Sarawak Energy and its subsidiaries to establish a Single Buyer system for procuring and distributing renewable energy. The minister also called on Sarawak Energy to collaborate closely with local communities, governmental bodies, and district offices in hydropower project development to develop stronger relations and enhance stakeholder engagement.

The session also featured the launch of the 'Manual & Guideline For The Accreditation Of Institutions On Competency Training And Examination For Mains Layer & Pipe Fitter Licences,' marked by a ceremonial book handover.

Also in attendance were Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication I (Telecommunication), The Honourable Datuk Liwan Lagang, and the Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication II (Utility), The Honourable Datuk Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Junaidi.
