Sarawak Energy Officially Launches Digital Resource Centre-PUSTAKA@SARAWAKENERGY

KUCHING

20 OCTOBER 2022

Sarawak Energy today officially launched PUSTAKA@SARAWAKENERGY, a digital resource centre aimed to provide its staff with easy access to a vast repository of digital content and information.

Sarawak Energy launched the e-resource centre at Menara Sarawak Energy with The Honourable Datuk Haji Julaihi Haji Narawi, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication as the guest of honour.

Also present at the event were Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer Datu Haji Sharbini Suhaili; Sarawak State Library Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr.) Haji Hamid Bugo; Sarawak State Library Acting Chief Executive Officer, Haji Japri Bin Bujang Masli, senior management and staff from Sarawak Energy and Sarawak State Library.

Julaihi congratulated both Sarawak Energy and the Sarawak State Library for working together to enhance digital access to knowledge to create a more capable workforce for Sarawak.

He said, “Through digitalisation of content, Sarawakians from both rural and urban areas will have the same access to information, enabled by a good digital infrastructure and creating more skilled and knowledgeable workers. Congratulations to both Sarawak Energy and the Sarawak State Library on this excellent initiative.”

Delivering his welcoming remarks, Sharbini said, “Sarawak Energy aspires to become a digital utility by 2025. The COVID-19 pandemic has not just demonstrated the importance of a digital infrastructure but also a digital savvy workforce. We were able to continue to operate by embracing the technologies in the way we do our business and manage our people.”

“Thank you to Pustaka for working with us on this initiative. The digital resource centre is accessible to all Sarawak Energy staff including those who are stationed in remote areas – please fully utilise this platform and other services offered by Pustaka,” he said.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Sarawak Energy has transformed its workforce way of learning by moving from conventional classroom-based events to online self-studies and subscription courses. This aligns with the Group's progressive digital and online learning culture and talent management excellence key focus area.

The launch builds upon a memorandum of understanding signed on 24 August 2022 between Sarawak Energy and the Sarawak State Library, formalising a two-year collaboration to develop the e-resource centre through a specific URL while fostering a closer working relationship.
