Sarawak Energy Featured at 7th BOSH Conference and Exhibition 2022

The seventh edition of the Borneo Occupational Safety and Health Conference and Exhibition (BOSH) 2022, organised by the National Institute of Occupational Safety And Health (NIOSH) at the Pullman Hotel here on 1 – 2 November gathered some 500 safety and health practitioners, employers and employees as well as experts in various disciplines in an effort to strengthen and promote safety, health and well-being in the workplace, harmonizing measures and risk management strategies through the recommendations of industry leaders.

With the theme ‘Equality, Sustainability and Prosperity’, the annual conference also saw 15 exhibitors and 11 domestic and international presenters from diverse fields participating in the two-day exhibition and conference, which was officiated by the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, The Honourable Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Sarawak Energy’s Senior Vice President for Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), Marconi Madai was featured as a plenary speaker of the event’s first plenary session, where he presented the paper ‘HSSE Excellence – Foundation for Business Sustainability and Continuous Growth’.

Marconi’s keynote presentation was not limited to safety matters but included sharing on the company’s vertical business functions in addition to HSSE such as finance, risk management, human resources and quality management.

Sarawak Energy’s multilateral approach to HSSE is driven by the company’s strategic roadmap ‘Sarawak Energy Excellence 2025 – towards being a regional renewable energy powerhouse’. Sharing the company’s HSSE transformation plan including its value drivers, deliverables and aspirations; he also spoke about its transformation initiatives including compliance and management systems, security and risk assessments, smart security surveillance, appreciation and recognition programmes, contractor transformation programmes, safety performance monitoring and incentive schemes, among others.

On the second day of the conference, Sarawak Energy’s General Manager for HSE, IR Robin Tigai spoke during the second plenary session, where he presented the paper “Generative HSE Culture Through ‘ACE’ – Sarawak Energy’s Experience”.

Also present at the event were NIOSH Chairman, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Human Resources Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International) Maniam Arumugam and NIOSH Executive Director Tuan Haji Ayop Salleh.
