Sarawak Energy Receives Regional Recognition for PR Excellence

Sarawak Energy received silver awards for its two submissions at the 3rd ASEAN Public Relations (PR) Excellence Award ceremony recently held to celebrate achievements in public relations practice in the Southeast Asian region.
Sarawak Energy was awarded the ‘Best COVID-19 Related Response’ for the Group’s communication response in keeping its people, customers and stakeholders safe over the ongoing the COVID-19 pandemic; and ‘Best PR Programme’ for the inaugural Sustainable and Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF) held in 2019.
PR practitioners within the ASEAN region competed in 10 categories - PR Programme, PR Practitioner, PR Agencies, PR Campaign, Crisis Management, Media Company Supporting PR and Communication Industry, Government PR, Use of Social Media, Use of Virtual Platform and Covid-19 Related Response.
This year's winners included Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, The Philippines’ Department of Transportation, and other government-linked companies, multinationals and corporations from the region.
Dato’ Sri Haji Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, President of Institute PR Malaysia, also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event in recognition of his dedication and hard work to PR practice.
The session kicked off with an address from Prita Kemal Gani, Founder & President of ASEAN Public Relations Network on the importance of PR and the ASEAN PR Excellence Awards categories. This was followed by a speech from His Excellency Tran Duc Binh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs who spoke on aiming for excellence in PR and communication.
The virtual ceremony was organised by ASEAN PR Network together with World Comm Malaysia and Institute PR Malaysia (IPRM), held in conjunction with ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2021.
Sarawak Energy was awarded two (2) Diamond Awards for Best PR Programme and Best PR Campaign at the 2nd ASEAN PR Excellence Awards held in Kuching in 2019.
