Sarawak Energy Junior Badminton Championship 2019 to be Held in Sibu in August

KUCHING, 15 JULY 2019, MONDAY: The second leg of the Sarawak Energy Junior Badminton Championship will be held in Sibu from 15 to 18 August with and many young talents expected to sign up for this competition.

Prizes worth over RM8,000 are to be won, an increase of more than RM2,000 from last year. The four-day competition will be held at Perfect Win Badminton Centre at Level 12, Sibu Central Market.

The tournament is divided into categories of Boy’s Singles, Girl’s Singles, Boys’ Doubles and Girls’ Doubles. The Boy’s Singles and the Girl’s Singles are for Under 10, Under 12, Under 15 and Under 19. The Boys’ Doubles and the Girls’ Doubles are for Under 12, Under 15 and Under 19.

Now open for registration, the tournament is open to all Sarawakians, permanent residents and those with work and study permits, between the ages of 19 years old and below.

The tournament will be played on single knock-out and a 21 points 3-game system.

The registration forms are available at http://se2019.eventrunner.com.my and interested participants are to submit their forms online together with their registration fees. No manual registration is allowed.

The registration fee is RM10 per player for the Singles categories and RM15 for the Double categories and the fees are non-refundable. The closing date to submit the entry form is 2 August.

The competition is aimed at nurturing interest and develop potential in young badminton players. It is also to provide an avenue to groom young shuttlers to compete at local, regional and international level.

The first leg of the competition was held in Miri from 29 to 31 March and attracted an overwhelming response from young badminton enthusiasts. The final leg will be held in Kuching on 22 to 24 November.
