Sarawak Energy Delivers Relief Aid To Flood Affected Community Of Long Busang, Belaga
KUCHING, 21 JUNE 2019, FRIDAY: Sarawak Energy delivered relief aid to the community of Long Busang in Belaga which was affected by flood due to heavy rainfall upstream recently.
The team delivered food items comprising bags of rice and other staples to the 350 villagers of the 136 flood affected households via longboats travelling eight hours upstream the Balui river from Bakun jetty.
Led by Augustine Supen Taja, Sarawak Energy Manager for Community Relations, the team also visited SK Long Busang and donated school supplies.
In addition, Sarawak Energy made some contribution to Long Busang’s development and security committee (JKKK) to assist restoration works in the aftermath of the flood.
Jiwari Abdullah, Sarawak Energy General Manager for CSR, commented, “We hope that the assistance we provided is able to give some respite given the impact of the flood on the community. We share the concerns of many for the safety of the villagers at Long Busang and we are glad that everyone came out safe.”
