KUCHING, 31 MAY 2018, THURSDAY: Sarawak Energy would like to inform its customers that its retail and operations arm, Syarikat SESCO Berhad will not be charging the 6% Goods and Service Tax (GST) for electricity consumed from 1 June..

This follows the recent announcement that Malaysia’s GST will be reduced to 0% from the current 6% starting this month.

Sarawak Energy is working on the back-end billing system to prorate the consumption over the transition period.

For electricity consumption in the month of May, 6% GST is still chargeable and the amount payable is reflected in the tax invoice (bill).
