377 Sarawak Energy Employees Honoured For Their Service
KUCHING, 4th NOVEMBER 2018, Sunday: Sarawak Energy paid tribute to 377 long serving employees including five staff who had been with the company for 40 years, at the 2018 Sarawak Energy Loyalty Service Awards which took place here, Sibu and Miri respectively in the past week.
Celebrating ruby service anniversaries of forty years were Ang Choo Siew, Lee Haw Soon and Muhammad Bin Zakaria from Kuching, Salleh Bin Ali from Sarikei and Sia Yiik Nan from Bintulu. The other recipients were for
reaching the milestones of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years in service.
Altogether all the recipients represented almost 9,000 years of service in the state-owned energy development company and power utility that emphasises on talent management excellence. The figure also indicated that Sarawak Energy is a preferred place of work.
Presenting the awards to 249 long serving employees at the finale in Kuching on Thursday night was Group Chief Executive Officer Datu Sharbini Suhaili. The event was also attended by the Sarawak Energy senior management team including its Group Chief Operating Officer, Lu Yew Hung; Chief Executive Officer for its retail and distribution arm, SESCO, Lau Kim Swee; and Chief Executive Officer for its generation arm, SEB Power, James Ung.
Sharbini said, “We have almost 5,000 staff who serve our 650,000 customers and almost 3 million people from across Sarawak with hard work and dedication. We have evolved into the company of today from almost a century ago due to our people, our greatest strength.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the honourees for their service at the dinner in Kuching.
“Sarawak Energy supports the economic development of the state, and you play a role in this. You have built up our company and our reputation through your hard work and loyalty, and this will always be your legacy.”
“I hope that you will share your knowledge and skills with our new and younger employees as we work towards benchmarking ourselves against the best in class operators,” he added, addressing the recipients.
Sharbini also acknowledged the 83 retirees and their spouses who were also in attendance that night.
“Congratulations and thank you for your contributions to Sarawak Energy through the years. To our retirees here tonight, we wish you a happy retirement,” he concluded.
In his speech, Sharbini thanked the recipients for their loyal service to the corporation.
