Power Interruption Due To Strong Wind

KUCHING, 22nd FEBRUARY 2017, WEDNESDAY: The power outage that affected parts of Bekenu and Lambir since 7.30pm last night was due to a broken cross arm on a high tension electrical pole damaged by strong wind at Bekenu junction. The damaged pole disrupted supply to the whole of Bakong area and some parts of Long Teru and Ladang Tiga.

The technical team of Sarawak Energy’s operations arm, Syarikat SESCO Berhad, immediately went to site to replace the broken cross-arm to restore supply to the affected customers but work was delayed due to heavy rain.

“We managed to restore supply at 1pm today but the downstream line tripped. After patrolling the line, our technical team discovered a broken pin insulator on one of the poles and rectified the fault. Supply was then fully restored at 5.19pm today,” said Tan Joo Kok, Sarawak Energy Regional Manager for Northern Region.

Sarawak Energy thanks the affected customers for their patience and cooperation and regrets any inconvenience caused.
