KUCHING, 26th NOVEMBER 2016, SATURDAY: Sarawak Energy regrets the outage which occurred at 6.38pm caused by a tripping of both the Oya-Selangau 275kV transmission lines, affecting customers from Kuching to Sibu.  

Restoration works commenced immediately with supply restored progressively. Central Region - Sibu, Sarikei, Song, Kapit, Tanjung Manis, Julau, Pakan and Bintagor - was fully restored within one hour.

Parts of Western Region - Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Saratok - were restored in stages with most parts fully restored between one to two hours except for some parts of Matang which is in progress.

As at press time, Sarawak Energy is continuing its efforts to restore power to the remaining affected areas.

Sarawak Energy is investigating the cause of the outage and will engage an international consultant to independently verify the results of the investigation.
