Sarawak Energy Honours Dedicated Employees At Loyalty Service Award 2016
KUCHING, 21 DECEMBER, 2016, WEDNESDAY: Sarawak Energy paid tribute to 387 long serving staff members who reached milestone years of service with the company at the 2016 Sarawak Energy Loyalty Service Awards which took place here, Sibu and Miri respectively in the last week.
Among the recipients were Lu Yew Hung, Group Chief Operating Officer of Sarawak Energy who has served for 35 years and Abdul Nasir Othman, a technical assistant attached to the Maintenance Network division in Sibu who is the sole recipient in the 40 years of service category. Milestones celebrated included 10, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service.
In his speech Sharbini Suhaili, Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer, thanked the honourees for their contributions to the state power utility and energy development company. Sarawak Energy has become a key driver in the economic development of the state.
“Sarawak Energy's greatest asset is our 4,700 staff, who serve our more than 630,000 customers across Sarawak with hard work and dedication."
“It does not matter how good our facilities and physical assets are, if we do not have capable, competent people with integrity to manage and operate them, we will not be successful. We must also ensure there is a strong talent development and management framework in place so that everyone can reach their full potential in this organisation. We want to benchmark ourselves against the best in class operators and strive towards being in the same group as these companies,” he added.
Prior to that, Aisah Eden, Sarawak Energy Executive Vice President of Corporate Services, in her welcome remarks said loyalty should not be confined to just staying with the company for the long term.
“For the company’s business to be sustainable, the employee has to contribute positively. It should go beyond 'I am just working here'. We should raise our brand to a higher level, safe guard our business property, our people and our customers. This does not only mean working hard, working smart but also working safe. It demands us to observe every standard, rule and regulation pertaining to the running of Sarawak Energy’s business,” she added.
