Miri Power Supply Interruption Caused By Broken High Voltage Overhead Lines
KUCHING, 13th MAY 2016, FRIDAY: Sarawak Energy's technical team worked all night to restore power supply to customers in Miri after two 11KV high tension (HT) poles were damaged yesterday. Following the 3.34 pm outage, repair works commenced within the hour and supply was fully restored at around 2.30am.
Preliminary findings from the technical team indicated that the damage was likely to have been caused by a passing high vehicle entangling with overhead lines breaking two HT poles and resulting in a trip to the 11kV feeder supplying the Pujut areas.
The outage affected Padang Kerbau, Eastwood, Canada Hill and right up to Kampung Haji Wahid,.
In a separate incident, residents at Lutong and Senadin had their supply fully restored by 5.30pm yesterday when a cable fault caused a trip along the 11kV feeder supplying Lutong and Senadin areas. The outage, affecting customers at Miri Mall, Paradise Park, Greenville Park and Promin Jaya among others, began at 1.45pm.
Choo Min Chong, Sarawak Energy Regional Manager for Northern Region said; “Though supply has been fully restored, our technical team remains on alert to stabilise the supply flow to these areas. We thank customers for their understanding”.
