A Safety Message From Sarawak Energy - No Dumping And Burning Near Electrical Facilities
KUCHING, 23 DECEMBER 2016, FRIDAY: Members of the public are urged to avoid carrying out dangerous activities near electrical facilities and substations.
In an incident highlighted in the media yesterday, evidence of rubbish dumping and burning were found near a substation in Miri.
This activity can cause serious damage to substation equipment and cables.
"Substations and other electrical facilities are valuable infrastructure vital to electricity supply. Open burning could result in damaged substation equipment and may also cause power interruptions should the fires become out of control," said Tan Joo Kok, Sarawak Energy Regional Manager for Northern Region.
To curb this problem and ensure public safety, we urge anybody who witness such activities to call our Customer Care Centre at 1300 88 3111, " said Tan.
