Emergency Power Shutdown In Miri Yesterday Due To Burst Water Pipe
MIRI, THURSDAY, 12TH NOVEMBER 2015: Sarawak Energy had to undertake emergency power shutdown to give way for repair works on a main water pipe that burst near KM8, Miri to Lambir road yesterday.
Sarawak Energy had given full cooperation to Miri Water Works by shutting down its nearby 33kV cables resulting in the loss of power to Marudi, Bakong and Lambir areas from 5.30pm to 8.00pm.
Sarawak Energy technical team was present on site to provide necessary assistance and supervise the digging work to ensure safety and at the same time to make sure that the cables are not damaged.
"The power shutdown was inevitable for safety reasons. The water supply in Miri was affected and the decision had to be made fast," said Sarawak Energy's spokesperson.
Sarawak Energy apologises to the people of Marudi, Bakong and Lambir for the inconvenience caused due to this emergency power shutdown.
