Deshon Substation Back To Normal - Upgrading Works On-Going
SIBU, 11th MARCH 2015, TUESDAY : Sarawak Energy wishes to inform residents and businesses in Sibu that the technical fault at the Deshon 132/33/11kV Substation has been identified and isolated. Repairs are in progress and expected to be fully completed by this Saturday. Supply to customers is not expected to be interrupted by the repair works.
The fault experienced at the substation had resulted in power outages on separate occasions with the first being on March 2 and a second one on March 11. Supply on both occasions was restored in stages.
Sarawak Energy’s maintenance team attended to both incidents swiftly; locating and isolating the fault, and restored supply to the affected areas within two hours.
The areas affected by the power outages were Sibu Town, Sungai Merah, Rantau Panjang, Ensurai, Pahlawan, Kampung Dato and Bandong and surrounding areas.
Sarawak Energy seeks the understanding of its customers over this period while the substation is being upgraded.
The upgrading work is to convert the outdoor substation into an indoor substation and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2016. This will also include diverting the existing 33kV feeders to this new substation.
In the meantime, Sarawak Energy is committed to ensure minimum interruptions to its customers, and will strive to normalize the system within the shortest time possible should an outage occur.
Sarawak Energy thanks its customers in Sibu for their patience while the company continuously works on improving the system.
