Kuching, 14th January 2014: Sarawak Energy expressed its sincere regret for the interruption to the power supply to areas in Kuching and Sri Aman following a transmission fault at 1142am today.

"Power was fully restored to all areas in Kuching and Sri Aman by 2.28pm" said Mr Lu Yew Hung the Chief Operating Officer of Sarawak Energy.

"Today’s incident was again caused by the testing works ongoing at the Engklili 275kV substation.  These works have now been suspended and will not resume until we are certain that they do not pose any further threat to grid security" said Lu.

Mr Lu concluded "On behalf of Sarawak Energy, we humbly apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers.  We acknowledge that two transmission faults within the space of a few days does not meet the high standards expected of our company and wish to reassure the people of Kuching and Sri Aman that we are doing everything possible to learn from this event and prevent it from happening again".
