KUCHING, 23rd SEPTEMBER 2014, TUESDAY: Some 70 officers from 17 government departments took part in a bowling friendly hosted by Sarawak Energy last Saturday.
The event, which saw participating teams competing for the ‘Sarawak Energy Government Stakeholder Bowling Get-Together’ Challenge Trophy, aimed to foster closer ties.
Defending champion, the State Secretary Office, emerged winner again this year with the Immigration Department coming in second while the Land and Survey Department took third place.
The other contending departments were the State Implementation Monitoring Unit, Resource Planning and Environment Ministry, Public Works Department, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Sarawak Forestry Department, Kuching District Police Station, State Planning Unit, Public Utilities Ministry, Department of Environment Sarawak, Information Department, Natural Resources and Environment Department as well as Sarawak Energy.
Representing Sarawak Energy were Senior Manager II for Corporate Social Responsibility Jiwari Abdullah, Covering Senior Manager II for Corporate Communications Ahadiah Zamhari, Policy and Government Relations Manager Abdul Baderi Sahmat and Sustainability Manager Mohamad Irwan Aman among others.
Earlier on, Baderi said the event was a platform to foster better relations and enhance communication between Sarawak Energy and the departments.
“As you know, Sarawak Energy is completely government owned so whatever project we implement is the work of the government. As such, without your (government departments) help, we would not be able to carry out the projects smoothly.
“We hope to foster closer rapport through a friendly game of bowling,” he said.
Baderi added that Sarawak Energy shared a similar objective which was to bring progress to the people of Sarawak. As such, he believes strong cooperation between the company and these departments was essential in realising Sarawak’s agenda of development.
