REDEEMS and Sarawak Energy to promote health and wellness within the community
Run and Bicycle Race on next Sunday
Kuching, 21 March 2014: As part of the efforts to promote community development in particular for the young people in the state, the Association of Research and Development Movement of Singai Sarawak (REDEEMS), in collaboration with Sarawak Energy, will be organising the REDEEMS Run and Bicycle Race on next Sunday, 30 March 2014 at Singai, Bau. The starting and finishing points shall be at REDEEMS Centre, Kampong Apar, Singai, Jalan Apar-Segong , Singai, Bau.
The event, which was initially scheduled to be held on 29 March has been rescheduled to Sunday, 30 March to enable more youth to participate. Over 300 participants are expected to take part in the event.
REDEEMS Run and Bicycle Race will feature an Open Category( above 18 yrs ) 21 km, Women (above 18 yrs ) 8 km and Junior Category (13-18 yrs) 8 km for the Run; and Open Category ( above 18 yrs ) 45 km, Women (above 18 yrs) 20 km and Junior Category (13-18 yrs) 20 km for the Bicycle Race.
Participants of the Run and Bicycle Race will stand a chance of winning up to RM1, 000.00 in cash among other attractive prizes.
REDEEMS Run and Bicycle Race 2014 will also give an excellent opportunity for participants to enjoy the scenic beauty of Singai.
YB Datuk Peter Nansian, President of REDEEMS and who is also the State Assistant Minister of Community Development and Assistant Minister of Industrial Estate Development said: “The main objective of this event is to encourage collaboration between the community, government and private sector to promote community development as well as eco-tourism in Sarawak. It is imperative, especially for companies in Sarawak, to see this as more than just another CSR activity that they can assist financially, but an opportunity to reach out to the local community and help contribute to society.”

As a society grows and develops, such programmes play an ever-increasing role in driving the communities toward unity and harmonious living."
All participants are reminded to collect their BIB number and T-shirts on Friday, 28 March at 3pm from the respective office where they submitted their registration, at REDEEMS centre or Menara Sarawak Energy. Those interested and who are yet to register themselves are to submit their entry forms latest by Tuesday 25 March.
