Sarawak Energy Participates In Regionally Acclaimed Green Technology Exhibition

Kuala Lumpur, 10 October 2013: Sarawak Energy Berhad, the State’s energy provider in collaboration with the Sarawak State Government participates in the "4th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia" ("IGEM") to create awareness on green energy; and the development of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy better known as SCORE. Firmly established as one of Malaysia’s five economic corridors, SCORE has access to abundance of natural resources that can generate clean and safe renewable energy, such as hydropower. This initiative is in line with the voluntary CO2 emission intensity reduction commitment that was mentioned by Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2009.

For Sarawak Energy, this exhibition allows the organization to showcase its role as the clean energy provider and sustainability partner for the development within SCORE.

Organized by the Ministry of Green Technology, Energy and Water, the IGEM series is recognized as the region’s largest green technology and eco products exhibition and has shaped and promoted Malaysia as the green technology hub. Sarawak Energy is pleased to participate in this exhibition with the State Government as "sustainable energy and green technology" is Sarawak Energy’s vision for the future in powering Sarawak under the SCORE agenda.

Aisah Eden, Chief of Corporate Services Sarawak Energy said “Sarawak Energy is deeply focused on powering Sarawak through environmentally conscious and sustainable methods.  The IGEM is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of our initiatives to various stakeholders in the region. We at Sarawak Energy have always been committed on improving energy generation for the State and for the people through renewable and sustainable resources.”

To support the State’s SCORE agenda, Sarawak Energy is committed towards harnessing the abundant hydro resources in a sustainable manner, compliant with Sarawak and Malaysian law and guided by international best practices.

Under the SCORE initiative, the State Government is implementing a comprehensive plan to develop the economy by harnessing the State’s competitive advantage in the generation of bulk renewable energy to attract investment and employment in energy intensive industries. This will result directly in the people of Sarawak enjoying higher income and enhanced standard of living.

The exhibition (IGEM) is held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, commences on 10 October and will end on 14 October 2013.
