New Schemes for SESCO's Union Staff - First Collective Agreement Signed

SARAWAK, KUCHING, 02 APRIL 2012 - Syarikat SESCO Berhad (SESCO) and Kesatuan Pekerja-Pekerja Syarikat Sesco Berhad Sarawak (KPPSSBS) today signed its first Collective Agreement at an event, held in a hotel in Kuching.

A key milestone under the Collective Agreement will see a total of 2,700 non-executive employees, including clerks and technicians of SESCO receiving a salary increase of at least 5 per cent, backdated to 1st January 2012.

Sarawak Energy Berhad Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Torstein Dale Sjøtveit said, "The negotiation teams representing the Management and the Union have worked very hard since June 2011 in ensuring that a common ground is achieved, which led to the signing event today. This showed the good understanding that exists between the Union and the Management, and I am happy that we have reached an amicable decision."

The agreement backdated from 1st January 2012 will expire on 31st December 2014.

Acting President of KPPSSBS, En Azman Abdullah thanked the Management for rewarding its union staff with the salary increase and other benefits. The other benefits include work-shift and competency allowances.

The agreement was signed by Sarawak Energy's CEO and Acting KPPSSBS President, En Azman Abdullah on behalf of the Union.

Present at the event were Guest-of-Honour, Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.
