LOWER POWER FACTOR PENALTY CHARGE

Consumers shall use their best endeavours to obtain the highest Power Factor possible in the operation of any of their electrical installations. If the Average Power Factor in any month is found to be:

  • Below 0.85 and up to 0.75 lagging, a supplementary charge of one and one-half percent (1.5%) of the bill for that month for each one-hundredth part (0.01) below 0.85 and up to 0.75 lagging Power Factor will be added to the bill for that month, and
  • Below 0.75 lagging, in addition to the charge payable under subparagraph (a) above, a supplementary charge of three percent (3%) of the bill for that month for each hundredth (0.01) part below 0.75 lagging Power Factor will be added to the bill for that month.

DEFINITION OF BILLING DEMAND

  • Measured in kW means the maximum demand registered during the month or seventy-five percent (75%) of the maximum demand registered during the preceding eleven (11) months or the contract demand, whichever is the highest; contract demand being equal to the estimated maximum demand at the meter point at the time of connection
  • For any applied load above 1.5MVA, the customer shall be classified under the demand tariff class (C2/C3) with demand metering.

NOTES:

  • Full payment has to be made before the due date to avoid disconnection of electricity supply. Late Payment Charge of 1% will be imposed for every 30 days from the invoice date and Late Payment Surcharge of RM10 will be imposed on the 90th day from the invoice date.
  • Sarawak Energy may disconnect the electricity supply at any time for any outstanding payment after the due date without sending reminder letter to customer.
  • The disconnected electricity supply will be reconnected after full payment of all outstanding charges, including all surcharges and fees are made.

Industrial Pricing & Tariff page:

We pay special attention to customers who take on very large loads. Because for those in manufacturing or mining, a stable supply is absolutely vital. It's been our honour to be entrusted with of supporting them and we intend to keep their trust by doing our best.

Industrial customers are those having 80% of usage on machineries and 20% on common usage.
